When ALGIBLOC is used to control the algae, you only need to add chlorine when you're going to swim and then only at low levels.

How to use ALGI BLOC


Maintaining crystal clear pool water throughout the year is as easy as following these 4 steps:

  • Adjust the pH level in your pool to between 7.2 and 7.6.
  • Add the recommended dose of ALGI BLOC to the water.
  • Run your pump to mix in the ALGI BLOC evenly and to filter dust and leaves that fall into the pool.
  • Add chlorine to kill bacteria just prior to swimming.


Chlorine use

Only two applications of ALGI BLOC a year will keep your pool water crystal clear without any chlorine. However, you still need to use chlorine in order to kill bacteria. So for your personal hygiene, use the recommended dose of chlorine just before swimming.

Winterising your pool

When the swimming season ends, just use the recommended dose of ALGI BLOC and ensure that the correct pH (7.2 - 7.6) is maintained. Your pool will stay crystal clear all winter!


Pool Cleaning Tips


Green Water


Problem: Green or black patches in pool, cloudy water.

Cause: Green algae or fungus infestation.

Treatment:

  • Adjust pH to between 7.2 and 7.6.
  • Loosen algae from the walls and the bottom of your pool by brushing.
  • Apply recommended dose of ALGI BLOC.
  • Mix evenly into the pool water by circulating with pump operating for at least 8 hours.
  • Allow time for the algae to be killed (3-5 days).
  • Remove dead algae by using your filter or vacuum.
  • If pool is still a little cloudy, superchlorinate the water as recommended by the manufacturers (usually 3 to 4 times normal chlorine dosage) and filter until clear.
  • Check the pH level every couple of weeks and maintain it at the correct level.


Cloudy Water


Problem: Cloudy water - hazy water which lacks clarity.

Cause:

  • Dead algae in water
  • Early algae growth
  • Poor filter operation
  • Incorrect pH

Treatment:

  • Adjust pH to between 7.2 and 7.6.
  • Check the filter and clean if necessary.
  • Use recommended dose of ALGI BLOC and filter for 1-2 days.
  • If still not clear, check filter operation. If the problem is not with the filter, add water clarifier.


Scale Build-up


Problem: Scale formation - calcium build-up on pool surface leaving rough, discoloured patches.

Cause:

  • Hard water
  • Excessive chlorine usage
  • Incorrect pH

Treatment:

  • Adjust pH to between 7.2 and 7.6.
  • If scale is severe, replace some of the pool water with fresh water.
